This workshop "An Integrated Model of Sustainability Education in Higher Education" is organized by Zoltán Alföldi.

One of the most important goals of our recent time to gain an integrated and coherent system of knowledge giving us a better chance to solve complex local and global scale environmental problems we are facing. Environmental education programs have their very significant roles in making the broad public realize that pro-environmental behavior is directly connected to pro-social behavior, and serves human interests. There is an increasing global trend in universities to incorporate the integrative view of sustainability into various forms of creative and effective sustainability education programs, as they have a key leadership role in finding reasonable solutions to compelling eco-social issues and so shaping aware societies. These establish the claim for applying dynamic and effective methods of pedagogy in environmental education, in which students and teachers are working together to find solutions for real problems of relevance to their communities to accomplish complex-term sustainability. To achieve this we have been complementing this integrated sustainability education program at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences in Hungary. This model consists of several BSc and MSc level courses such as Human Ecology, Bioethics, and Environmental Education, as well as practical constituents. This two-part workshop aims to open the possibility for discussing about effective methods and good practices of sustainability educations, and their empirical foundations.
